Mojo is an exciting culmination of food, music and history. Owner
Mounir Jabrane brings the same enthusiasm and richness to Harlem
that once flooded the streets back in the early to mid 1900’s during
the Harlem Renaissance. His love of music and performing - once
a pursued career - was greatly inspired by musicians of that era.
After living downtown, Mounir moved to Harlem in 2007 and finally
felt at home; the people, architecture, history and spirit were
what he had been longing for and finally found. Soon after, he
opened Mojo – where he is committed to bringing people together
to celebrate Harlem's worldly influence and deep seeded roots.
Having grown up in Morocco and Belgium, Mounir has a passion for
color and elegance that now decorates both the menu and interior
of Mojo. Coined "New Harlem Cuisine" - a fusion of Mediterranean/Southern
flavor and representing the diversity of Harlem, Executive Chef
Julio Sanchez' menu features indulgent dishes like "Buckwheat
Fried Oysters", "Harlem Fried Chicken Sliders", "Moroccan
Grilled Baby Lamb Chops", "Grilled Salmon with a Horseradish
Cream Sauce" and a crowd favorite, "Sexy Grits"-
made with cream, truffle oil and garnished with Portobello mushrooms. Decadent
desserts like "Strawberry Tiramisu" and "Chocolate Mousse" are
a perfect last impression.
Mojo's interior is warm and sexy; deep purple hues fill the walls
while dim lighting and floral covered glass windows set the stage
for live music spanning a variety of styles including jazz, soul
and r & b. Mojo's gracious hospitality and exceptional service
is a welcomed addition to the Harlem landscape and will certainly
have you coming back for more. |
